The art studio FOS Ceramiche was founded in 1987 in Faenza, Italy—a region with a long history and tradition in the art of ceramics. Its founders are the Cypriot-born ceramicist Andri Ioannou and the Italian ceramicist Piero Mazzotti. The studio’s name is an acronym for the words Form, Object, Surface, and today it is internationally recognized for creating refined porcelain art objects.
Its collections are based on the purity of unglazed porcelain, which uniquely highlights the subtle textures and relief surfaces of the works. The studio crafts its pieces exclusively in Italy, following the passionate rhythm of the human hand and rejecting industrial mass production. The studio’s objects stand out for their strong personality and sculptural character, striking a balance between geometric architectural forms and the organic shapes found in nature.
The high aesthetics and continuous reinvention of FOS Ceramiche have led to major accolades. Works by its designers have been showcased in leading institutions, such as the exhibition "W. Women in Italian Design" at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, while Andri Ioannou was awarded third prize at the Aveiro International Biennial of Artistic Ceramics in 2021. At the same time, the studio’s new generation of designers continues this successful journey, earning awards in prestigious contemporary ceramics competitions.
